Creator Comparison

OnlyFansvs.Fansly

Both take 20%. The important differences begin when something goes wrong.

Written for creators · Research current to 5 October 2026

Both give you real infrastructure for the same bargain: you keep 80%, they keep 20%. The differences are in payment risk, payout review, enforcement, appeals, discovery, portability and control. This page tells you what they mean for how you operate.

OnlyFans does better

Formal appeals, written process and published enforcement figures. It also has evidenced cases of creators being paid after their account was terminated.

Fansly does better

Ordinary chargeback protection and clearer outbound linking. It also provides more built-in discovery tools.

Roughly the same

The 80/20 split. Heavy platform control. No meaningful subscriber portability. On both, an unwithdrawn balance is exposed during serious enforcement.

Different risk

OnlyFans puts more routine payment-reversal risk on you. Fansly gives you weaker formal protection when the platform itself acts against you.

Neither platform is clearly safer overall. Each card is a summary; every claim is sourced and qualified further down. “Better” always means better at a specific thing, never better to creators in general. Using both spreads the risks they differ on. It does not fix the ones they share.

02 · The creator survival guide

The stuff you really need to know

The rules that matter before you ever need them.

  • RuleWritten in the platform’s Terms or published policy.
  • Platform practiceHow the company itself says its system works: help pages, signed replies, staff statements, interface text.
  • Documented casesReal creator cases or corroborated practice. Shows something happens, not how often.
  • Not establishedCHI could not determine the answer reliably. Not the same as “never”.

Know

Established facts to understand before you operate on either platform.

Both platforms

Your entire unpaid balance can be exposed during serious enforcement

Neither contract gives a simple guarantee that unrelated, already-cleared earnings will be paid out after a termination for cause. Neither commits to taking only the money linked to a violation. The evidence of what actually happens differs.

OnlyFans

The Terms let OnlyFans treat any part of your Creator Earnings as forfeited and refund fans. In signed written replies, OnlyFans has said one terminated creator’s remaining earnings were refunded to subscribers, and that another could withdraw the whole available balance. Creators report both outcomes. No part-payment was found, and no published rule says which outcome applies.

RulePlatform practiceDocumented cases

Fansly

The Terms allow forfeiture of any revenue earned by Users that violate these Terms. Creators have posted Fansly emails stating that any funds associated with it will be forfeited and that the decision was final and cannot be reversed, with Fansly staff confirming the termination in the same thread. In the Fansly material CHI reviewed, no terminated creator was found later reporting payment of the balance. That is an absence of evidence, not proof that Fansly never pays.

RuleDocumented cases

Treat any unwithdrawn balance as money at risk, on either platform.

Both platforms

Chargebacks work very differently

OnlyFansWhen a fan wins a chargeback or refund, OnlyFans normally deducts your share: the Terms say it may deduct an amount equal to the Creator Earnings portion. Some disputes instead show you will be paid anyway.

FanslyFansly says it protects you from most chargebacks, and creators confirm it. It reserves exceptions, and its Terms still keep a right to deduct.

RulePlatform practiceDocumented cases

Fansly is better for ordinary chargeback protection. How it works →

OnlyFans

OnlyFans has a defined appeal mechanism, with limits

A contractual Appeals Policy covers account and content suspension or deactivation, final warnings, feature restrictions and restrictions on your ability to monetise. The only route is the Deactivation Appeal Form. The Terms give six months; in-app notices say 30 days.

Appeals are decided by OnlyFans’ own Appeals Team, not an independent body. There is no binding decision deadline and no second level. A dispute about forfeited earnings goes to a separate Complaints Policy that never mentions earnings.

Rule

Fansly

Fansly publishes no equivalent structured appeal for account or money decisions

Review does exist: you reply to the email that announced the decision, you can send documents, and Fansly staff have reversed at least one termination they acknowledged was a mistake, within about a day.

But no appeal form, published decision deadline, guaranteed second reviewer or published reinstatement standard was found in the Terms, the Help Center or the app’s code.

RuleDocumented cases

Both platforms

Neither gives you meaningful subscriber portability

You don’t get fans’ contact details on either platform, and neither offers an export that would recreate your paying relationships somewhere else. Subscriptions don’t move. On OnlyFans they are deleted with the account.

The fan-privacy reason for this is legitimate. The practical effect is the same: the paying relationship belongs to the platform’s billing system, not to you.

RulePlatform practice

Both platforms

Being on both is allowed. Moving a fan’s payment off-platform is not.

Neither platform requires exclusivity, and both take a non-exclusive licence to your content. Fansly says You’re welcome to share other websites too, as long as they follow our Terms of Service. OnlyFans has no rule against being elsewhere, but its published guidance doesn’t say whether you may link another subscription platform.

What is prohibited is different: OnlyFans says If you try to direct Fans to make a payment outside the OnlyFans platform there is a risk your account will be deactivated. Fansly sanctions on-platform requests to move contact or meetings off-platform.

RuleDocumented cases

Watch

Conditions where scrutiny, holds or enforcement recur in the evidence. None of these means trouble is coming. They are the moments to be prepared for.

Fansly

Payout requests are a review point

Fansly’s Help Center says Most payout requests are reviewed and approved by our team within 48 hours. Fansly support staff have also said, in public forum replies, that when you request a payout your content is reviewed for compliance with the Terms. Several documented enforcement cases began at a payout request, including some at a creator’s first payout.

That does not mean every payout triggers an enforcement review. Most are simply approved.

Platform practiceDocumented cases

OnlyFans

No payout-request review trigger was established at OnlyFans across about 30 payout-related cases. That doesn’t mean it never reviews at payout. OnlyFans has said its compliance team runs regular checks and planned ID verifications, during which payouts can be switched off while the page keeps earning.

Not establishedPlatform practice

A large balance allowed to build up may meet compliance scrutiny at the moment you try to withdraw it.

Both platforms

Co-performer paperwork

Identity, consent and release documents for anyone else in your content come up again and again in holds and terminations on both platforms. On OnlyFans, co-performer documentation is the largest group among the creator-reported cases found where a whole balance was lost, and 48-hour document deadlines are reported. On Fansly, missing consent documents are the reason given most often in the wallet-lock cases found.

RuleDocumented cases

Both platforms

Fraud and payment signals

OnlyFansOnlyFans has said that when it suspects a fan’s payment is fraudulent, it refunds the payment itself and deducts it from the creator. No working dispute route for this was found. The app also tells creators their chargeback ratio should be under 1%; what happens above that is unpublished.

FanslyCreators report balances locked while Fansly examined one unusually heavy-spending fan, and partial deductions where purchases came from a fraud network.

Platform practiceDocumented cases

Both platforms

Verification requests

Not supplying identity, tax, performer or payout information on time can block your money. OnlyFans’ app lists payout blocks for photo ID, W-9 and DAC7 tax forms, payout-detail checks, a name that doesn’t match your payout provider, and a payout account used by another account. A Fansly notice quoted by a creator reads: Please complete the verification request within five (5) days… During the review, your account balance will be temporarily restricted.

Platform practiceDocumented cases

Both platforms

Off-platform language

Keep four things separate:

  • Having another platform: allowed on both.
  • Linking or promoting elsewhere: expressly welcome on Fansly. On OnlyFans no rule forbids it, but the guidance is silent and its word and link filters are unpublished.
  • Steering a fan to pay outside the platform: prohibited, with deactivation as the stated risk on OnlyFans.
  • Meet-up or in-person talk: prohibited. Terminations over meet-up talk are reported on both, some without prior warning, including talk the creator says was role-play.
RuleDocumented cases

Both platforms

Rule changes

Don’t assume content that was acceptable stays acceptable. On 23 June 2025 Fansly emailed creators new and clarified content rules, told them to remove affected content by 28 June, and cited its payment processors. That is five days for content already published. OnlyFans’ Community Guidelines are its help centre, so a help-page edit changes a rule you agreed to, and a creator reports a final warning covering messages sent months earlier.

Pending · not in force OnlyFans has published, at an unlinked page, a revised Terms text dated October 2026. It is not the operative contract. As written it would remove seriously or repeatedly from the no-notice clause and add grounds for reputational harm and for not promptly providing requested information. Creators report an email saying it applies from 1 November 2026; OnlyFans’ own statement of that date was not seen.

RulePlatform practiceDocumented cases

Both platforms

Small things that cost money

FanslyA $5-a-month fee comes out of a balance after 12 months without a login, until the balance is zero. (The Terms say no login; the Help Center says no activity.)

OnlyFansContent-removal notices say you can appeal within 30 days; the contract says six months. Whether a later appeal is refused is unknown. Act within 30 days.

RulePlatform practice

This is unusual

Know what an ordinary workflow looks like, so you recognise when you’ve entered a different one. No safe number of days is published by either platform, and CHI doesn’t invent one.

Fansly

A wallet lock is not a forfeiture

Ordinary

  • 7-day pending period, then payout review, mostly within 48 hours
  • Delivery typically within 1–3 business days of Processing
  • A withdrawal-only lock with a document request. The app banner says incoming transactions are not affected
  • Release after you supply what was asked

Different

  • A lock that keeps going after you’ve supplied everything requested
  • Silence after you send documents
  • A termination notice
  • Words like final and cannot be reversed, will not be further reviewed or considered or will be forfeited

A temporary lock by itself does not establish forfeiture. No lock was found turning into a permanent loss without a termination, and documented locks have been released after documents arrived, one of them after staff called its length not appropriate.

Platform practiceDocumented cases

OnlyFans

Four different states that can look alike

Ordinary

  • Payout processing: 3–5 business days, sometimes up to 10
  • Routine verification: ID or tax forms, then payouts resume
  • Content removal with a warning, sometimes with nothing further

Different

  • Payouts disabled while the page keeps earning, with no timeline. Reported durations run from hours to about four months
  • Formal account or content enforcement: deactivation, with a templated statement of reasons
  • A notice that your balance will be refunded. On two creators’ accounts they were paid anyway. The notice is not the final word either way
Platform practiceDocumented cases

OnlyFans

Genuinely odd features of the OnlyFans system

  • Two appeal windows. The contract gives six months. In-app removal notices say 30 days.
  • “You will be paid anyway.” A chargeback status reads Your earnings for this Chargeback were not reversed and you will be paid anyway. No published rule explains when it applies.
  • A payout state for closing accounts. Account removal process initiated, you will receive payout automatically once all payments are cleared exists in the app but in no published rule. One creator reports seeing it after OnlyFans deactivated their page, and being paid days later.
  • Proof required, no way to attach it. The public appeal form says an appeal without detailed evidence will be denied, but has two text fields and no file upload.
RulePlatform practice

Do

Precautions that follow directly from the findings above.

01 · Most important

Withdraw regularly

Don’t let a large balance sit on either platform. Withdrawing doesn’t guarantee protection. It reduces how much is inside the platform if a review or enforcement action begins.

Fansly

It matters more here. Every payout request goes for approval, and Fansly staff say content is checked for compliance at that point, so a balance left to build is reviewed when it is largest.

OnlyFans

Automatic monthly, weekly or (where available) daily payouts can keep the balance low. But withdrawn money isn’t immune: creators report later chargebacks creating a negative balance that future earnings pay down.

02

Keep your own records

Don’t rely on the platform as your only bookkeeping. Save earnings, payout and transaction records regularly. On OnlyFans, download each payout invoice and your tax documents; the web app has no earnings-ledger export. Fansly’s app code contains CSV downloads of wallet history, payout requests and earnings statistics. Use them if your account shows them.

03

Keep original content offline

Don’t use a platform vault as your only archive. Neither platform’s app code offers a bulk vault download, and OnlyFans’ Terms say you will not be able to access your Content after your account is terminated.

04

Keep performer documents ready to send

For everyone who appears in your content: ID and signed consent or release, stored together and retrievable in minutes. Reported deadlines can be 48 hours or less. Tag co-performers where the platform expects it.

05

Maintain an independent audience

Social accounts, a website, a mailing list or other lawful channels you control reduce your dependence on either platform. They do not make paid subscribers portable. They give people a way to find you again.

07

Answer notices fast, and in writing

On OnlyFans, appeal within 30 days. On Fansly, reply to the email with the documents asked for, inside the stated deadline. On both, keep copies of everything you send. The evidence checklist →

03 · Where each platform is actually better

Twelve things that change how you work

Not a scoreboard. The rows are not equally important: chargebacks or balance treatment may matter far more to you than discovery. Each verdict says what one platform is better at.

Revenue share

Roughly equivalent
OnlyFansKeeps 20% of every fan payment; you get 80%.
FanslyYou get 80% of subscriptions, sold media, messages and tips.
Why you careThe headline price is the same. Choose on the other rows.

Chargeback protection

Fansly better
OnlyFansYour share is deducted by default when a fan wins. Some disputes end paid anyway; no rule says when.
FanslyGenerally absorbs ordinary chargebacks, with stated exceptions. Not a contractual promise.
Why you careThis hits routine income, even when you’ve done nothing wrong.

Refund protection and notice

Fansly better
OnlyFansGranted refunds come off your earnings. No creator notice or dispute window documented.
FanslySays it reaches out first on undelivered customs; staff describe a 72-hour window to dispute a refund. Informal, not published rules.
Why you careA chance to answer before money leaves your balance.

Exposure at payout request

OnlyFans better
OnlyFansNo payout-request review trigger established. Periodic checks and ID re-verification can still pause payouts.
FanslyEvery request goes for approval; staff say content is reviewed for compliance at payout.
Why you careDecides when scrutiny lands: on Fansly, when your balance is biggest.

Formal appeals

OnlyFans better
OnlyFansContractual Appeals Policy and form; six months (notices say 30 days); reversals published.
FanslyNo published creator appeal for account or money decisions. Email review by the same team.
Why you careA defined route when you think a decision is wrong.

Termination process

OnlyFans better
OnlyFans30 days’ notice to end an account for no reason (no use found); no notice on a suspected serious or repeated breach; reasons promised.
FanslyTerms allow termination at any time, for any reason, with or without prior notice; no reasons requirement.
Why you careWhat you’re owed in writing before and after you lose access.

Balance after termination

OnlyFans better
OnlyFansWhole balances paid in some cases; in others OnlyFans has said they were refunded to payers. A built-in pay-out state exists.
FanslyWhole-balance forfeiture declared final in documented cases; no later payment found.
Why you careOnlyFans has evidenced payouts after termination. Neither contract protects the balance.

Platform discovery

Different trade-off
OnlyFansFar larger paying audience. Help centre says fans need your username; app code has a suggestions feature.
FanslyDocuments more internal discovery: search, recommendations and an opt-in For You page.
Why you careFans Fansly finds for you exist only there and can’t follow you out.

Linking elsewhere

Fansly better
OnlyFansNo rule against it, but no clear permission either. Word and link filters unpublished.
FanslyExpressly welcomes links to other websites that follow its Terms.
Why you careClarity on what you can post without risking a flag.

Audience portability

Roughly equivalent
OnlyFansNo fan contacts; no subscriber, message or ledger export in the app’s code.
FanslyNo fan contacts; no follower or subscriber export in the app’s code.
Why you careOn both, losing the account means losing the paying relationships.

Geoblocking

Fansly better
OnlyFansBlocks by country, US/Canadian/Australian state or province, and IP address. Free watermarking, opt-in video DRM.
FanslyBlocks by country, state, city or region. Watermarking.
Why you careFansly reaches city level; OnlyFans adds IP blocking. Other privacy tools are roughly equivalent.

Transparency on enforcement

OnlyFans better
OnlyFansPublishes monthly enforcement reports and EU appeal statistics. Signs its complaint replies.
FanslyPublishes no enforcement, appeal or reinstatement figures.
Why you careSome public sense of how often decisions get reversed.

Verdicts compare which written position or documented practice is more creator-protective on that one point. They are not added up. Nine groups of further detail are in the full comparison.

04 · Follow the money

What actually happens to your money?

Every fan payment moves through the same stages on both platforms. The risks attach at different stages.

  1. SaleFan pays; 80/20 split
  2. PendingUsually 7 days on both
  3. ClearedAvailable to withdraw
  4. Payout requestFansly: review point
  5. Refund · chargeback · reviewCan reach money at any stage
  6. Payout or enforcementPaid, held, or exposed
Stage 01 · Sale

The 80/20

Roughly equivalent

Both research files treat the 20% as a facially reasonable price for payments, hosting, moderation and billing, not as hostility.

OnlyFans

Keeps 20% of every fan payment and pays creators 80%. Its 2025 accounts say it paid out $6.2 billion to creators.

Rule

Fansly

Creators receive 80% of revenue from subscriptions, sold media, messages, and tips. No hidden fees for payouts, processing, or currency conversion.

Platform practice
Stage 02 · Pending

Pending money

Roughly equivalent

Seven days on both, with one OnlyFans exception worth checking.

OnlyFans

7 days. Creators in a small number of countries that have a high level of reversed transactions have a 21-day pending period for their first four months. The country list is only visible after login.

Platform practice

Fansly

After each transaction, your funds enter a 7-day pending period. One fixed period, published.

Platform practice
Stage 04 · Payout request

Asking for your money

OnlyFans better

The clearest procedural difference in the money flow.

OnlyFans

Requests are processed immediately and should be paid within 3-5 business days. In some cases, it can take up to 10 business days. Minimum $20 for most methods. No payout-request review trigger was established. That is not proof OnlyFans never reviews at payout.

Platform practiceNot established

Fansly

Each request is reviewed and approved; Fansly says most are approved within 48 hours, though often sooner. Staff say content is checked for compliance at that point. Minimums: $20 (Paxum, Cosmopayment), $50 (SEPA), $100 (SWIFT, crypto).

Platform practiceDocumented cases
Stage 05 · Chargeback

When a fan disputes a charge

Fansly better

The difference most likely to affect ordinary income, because it doesn’t depend on you doing anything wrong.

OnlyFans · default

Fan paid$10.00
Your share$8.00
Deducted−$8.00

Your share is deducted by default.

Terms: we may deduct an amount equal to the Creator Earnings portion of the refunded or chargedback amount. The same applies to refunds OnlyFans issues itself on suspected fraud. Exceptions exist: a paid anyway status, a flow requiring the fan to repay, and a few refunds OnlyFans funded itself. How often each happens is unknown. No chargeback fee was found.

RulePlatform practiceDocumented cases

Fansly · default

Fan paid$10.00
Your share$8.00
Deducted$0.00

Generally absorbed by Fansly.

Yes, almost always. Fansly protects you from most chargebacks, but it reserves the right to deduct for an unusually high number of chargebacks compared to the general creator base, for revenue from violating content, and in exceptional cases where creator fault is determined. Staff add undelivered customs. Partial deductions occur in fraud cases. The Terms still reserve a right to deduct.

RulePlatform practiceDocumented cases
What nobody can tell youNeither company publishes enough data to calculate the expected annual chargeback loss for a typical creator. The $10 example shows the default direction of each rule, not how often it happens to you. Don’t read it as “OnlyFans never absorbs” or “Fansly always absorbs”. Both have exceptions.
After clearing

Cleared does not always mean final

Fansly better

Mostly an OnlyFans issue, because that is where chargebacks land on the creator by default.

OnlyFans

Many creators independently report deductions arriving weeks or months after the sale, reaching money that had already cleared, and negative balances, including after a payout, which later earnings then pay down. The 7-day pending period does not cap this exposure.

Documented cases

Fansly

Fan refunds can still be taken from a live balance and show as an itemised admin balance deduction. Because ordinary chargebacks are generally absorbed, there is less routine exposure here.

Platform practice
Stage 06 · Enforcement

Termination and your balance

OnlyFans better

Better only in the evidence of payment. On both, the whole unwithdrawn balance is exposed when an account is terminated for cause.

OnlyFans

Contract. On a suspected serious or repeated breach, OnlyFans may act without warning or Notice and for as long as is necessary to review the relevant facts, including withholding earnings. On a finding, it may treat any part of your Creator Earnings as forfeited and refund fans, and must give a statement of reasons why.

What happens. Three outcomes are evidenced: the whole balance paid or stated payable (once in a signed company reply, four times creator-reported); the whole remaining balance stated returned to subscribers or cardholders (twice in signed replies, at least nine times creator-reported); or unknown. No part-payment was found. Where reversed money finally goes is not established.

RulePlatform practiceDocumented cases

Fansly

Contract. Fansly may terminate at any time, for any reason, with or without prior notice, may delete your account without payment, and may forfeit revenue earned by users who violate its Terms. Its Help Center: Funds may be withheld if the termination results from a violation of the Terms.

What happens. Fansly has told specific creators, in emails they posted, that their funds would be forfeited and the decision was final. CHI identified 44 cases (posts) alleging money held or lost on termination, ban or suspension. No terminated creator was found later reporting payment. Whether forfeited money is refunded to fans or kept is not established either way.

RuleDocumented casesNot established
Read the counts correctlyThese are cases identified, not rates. Fansly publishes no enforcement figures, so there is no denominator: 44 cases cannot be turned into a percentage of creators. The two platforms’ case collections were gathered by different methods and are not matched samples, so their raw counts should not be compared with each other. An absence of reported payouts is an absence of evidence, not proof that payouts never happen.

05 · What can get you in trouble

What creators should be especially careful about

The categories that recur in holds and enforcement on both platforms. A breach doesn’t automatically mean termination: for ordinary content breaches both platforms are documented giving warnings or short suspensions first, though neither publishes a strike count and both skip straight to termination for some categories.

The issue

Undocumented or untagged co-performers

Why the platform cares

Both must verify the age, identity and consent of everyone who appears. OnlyFans’ Terms require a tagged creator or an adult whose ID and written, informed consent you hold.

What can happen

Content removed, wallet or payouts locked until documents arrive, termination. OnlyFans’ Terms let it withhold all or any portion of earnings. Creators on both report losing whole balances in these cases. Documented cases

What to do

Get ID and a signed release before you shoot or post. Tag where expected. Answer document requests inside the deadline, even if it’s 48 hours.

The issue

Identity and account ownership

Why the platform cares

The verified person must be the person in the content and the person being paid.

What can happen

Re-verification that doesn’t match, an expired ID or a payout name mismatch can pause payouts. Creators on Fansly report terminations after re-verification failures. In one OnlyFans case the account was transferred to the person shown in the content. Documented cases

What to do

Keep ID current. Make sure the account holder, the person on camera and the payout details match.

The issue

Fraud or suspicious payments

Why the platform cares

Stolen cards and fraud rings cost the platform and threaten its payment processing.

What can happen

OnlyFans has said it refunds suspected-fraud payments and deducts them from the creator. Fansly has locked balances while it examined a single fan’s spending, and made partial deductions in fraud-network cases. Platform practice

What to do

Expect questions when one fan spends unusually heavily. Keep the message history and delivery records for big sales.

The issue

Prohibited content categories

Why the platform cares

Both have tied content rules to payment partners: OnlyFans in 2021 (a ban it then suspended), Fansly in 2025. Neither named a card network.

What can happen

Removal with a warning is the documented first response for ordinary breaches on both; suspensions of 1–7 days are reported on Fansly. Serious categories can mean immediate termination. Documented cases

What to do

Read the current list on the platform you’re on; they differ. When unsure, ask in writing first. OnlyFans’ guide says just ask us.

The issue

Asking fans to pay off-platform

Why the platform cares

It takes the transaction, and the platform’s cut, outside its system.

What can happen

OnlyFans: there is a risk your account will be deactivated. One creator reports a closure after sharing a payment-app handle; others report warnings for sharing a messaging-app username. On Fansly, a warning and one-day ban for mentioning a messaging app is reported. Rule Documented cases

What to do

Never share payment handles or send a platform fan somewhere else to pay. Promote other channels where permitted, not as a payment route.

The issue

Meet-up or in-person language

Why the platform cares

Prostitution and trafficking rules. OnlyFans: Creators and Fans cannot use OnlyFans to discuss or arrange in real life meetings. Fansly’s list bans solicitation whether explicitly or by use of any slang.

What can happen

Terminations are reported on both, some within a day and some without prior warning, including where the creator says it was role-play. Documented cases

What to do

Don’t discuss meeting, prices for meeting, or locations, even as a joke or role-play.

The issue

Not providing requested information

Why the platform cares

Compliance reviews can’t close without it.

What can happen

Balance restricted during review; deadlines of a few days; termination when deadlines pass. In one OnlyFans case, a balance the company said was payable was still unpaid four months later, pending a W-9. Documented cases

What to do

Check email, including spam, daily while you have a balance. Fansly’s lock banner sends you to email. Reply with everything at once and keep a copy.

The issue

Tax and payout-provider paperwork

Why the platform cares

Tax reporting (W-9, 1099, EU DAC7) and payout-provider checks are legal obligations.

What can happen

OnlyFans’ app lists payout blocks for W-9, DAC7, payout-detail verification and name mismatches. Fansly staff cite tax and address paperwork among lock triggers. Platform practice

What to do

File tax forms before your first payout. Use a payout account in your own verified name, and update both sides together if anything changes.

The issue

Unusual chargeback activity

Why the platform cares

High dispute ratios threaten card-processing relationships.

What can happen

Fansly’s protection has a stated exception for an unusually high number of chargebacks compared to the general creator base; the threshold is unpublished. OnlyFans says your ratio should be under 1%. Creators report price caps, messaging limits and a missing payout button after clusters. Platform practice

What to do

Deliver what you sell, promptly, and keep proof of delivery. Block or refuse fans who repeatedly dispute.

06 · If your money or account gets flagged

If something goes wrong, save this first

Before you reply to anything, preserve the record while you still have access. After termination you may lose access to your content and account history. Tick items off as you go; nothing here is saved or sent anywhere.

Communication

Fansly

Fansly’s publicly served app code includes CSV downloads for wallet history, payout requests and earnings statistics. If those controls appear in your account, export them now, while you still have access. Whether they are live for every creator wasn’t verified. The wallet-history file is capped at 5,000 sales per file, so export in date ranges.

Platform practice

OnlyFans

The web app has no earnings-ledger or statistics export in its code. Download each payout’s invoice and your tax documents (1099, W-9, VAT invoices), and screenshot statements. A self-service personal-data request exists; whether it stays available to a terminated creator, and what it contains, wasn’t established.

Platform practiceNot established

Don’t let the platform be the only place where evidence of your business exists.

07 · Recourse

What recourse do you actually have?

OnlyFans gives you a formal route for account and content decisions. Neither gives you a structured route for money already earned.

OnlyFans

A named appeal process

Covers
Account and content suspension or deactivation, final warnings, feature restrictions, and restrictions on your ability to monetise. Not ordinary warnings.
Route
The only way to appeal a Decision is to complete and submit the Deactivation Appeal Form. Two text boxes, no file upload. Without detailed evidence the appeal will be denied.
Deadline
Six months in the Terms and Appeals Policy. Content-removal notices say within 30 days. Act within 30 days where you can.
Who decides
OnlyFans’ own Appeals Team. Not independent adjudication; no stated second level; no binding decision deadline (it aims for 24–48 hours).
If you win
The decision is reversed, but OnlyFans is not liable for lost earnings or subscribers during the downtime.
Your money
Forfeited earnings go to a Complaints Policy that never mentions earnings and promises no reversal. Holds and deductions have no named route.
Beyond that
EU and UK creators have mediation routes on paper; an EU out-of-court body’s decisions don’t bind OnlyFans. Courts of England and Wales, a one-year limit, and a reserved right to terminate a user who sues (no use found).
9,023of 115,079 appeals granted, EU reporting year 1 (7.8%)
11,134of 200,037 complaints reversed, year 2 (5.6% of all; 8.9% of those upheld or reversed)

OnlyFans’ own figures. They pool fans and creators and every decision type, so they are not a creator success rate. In year 2, 50,107 complaints ended without a decision and 25,011 appear in no outcome row.

RulePlatform practice

Fansly

Review by email

Route
Reply to the compliance or support email that announced the decision. Fansly publishes no structured creator appeal process for account or money decisions.
What works
Review does happen. You can send evidence and documents, and deadlines have been extended for creators who engage. Staff have reversed at least one termination they called a mistake, within about a day, and offered conditional reinstatement in some document cases.
What’s missing
No form, no published decision deadline, no guaranteed second reviewer. Reviews are done by the same compliance function.
Finality
Documented notices say final and cannot be reversed and will not be further reviewed or considered.
Reasons
Usually a clause-level reason by email; sometimes time-stamped evidence; sometimes we can’t disclose.
Public forums
Staff replies on the main creator forum, once frequent, became rare in 2026. Don’t plan on public escalation as a route.
Beyond that
Individual arbitration with a class waiver and a one-year bar, a small-claims carve-out, and a 30-day opt-out window.
RuleDocumented cases

OnlyFans gives the account a process. Neither gives the money one.

On OnlyFans, a creator who loses both account and balance is sent down two separate tracks. On Fansly there is one informal track for both.

08 · If you use both

Using both changes the risk. It doesn’t eliminate it.

For creators who run both, the two platforms differ on exactly the risks a second platform can spread.

What it helps with

  • Losing one platform doesn’t necessarily wipe out all of your paid infrastructure.
  • The two expose you to different payment and enforcement risks.
  • OnlyFans brings a much larger installed paying audience.
  • Fansly documents more internal discovery.
  • Fansly generally absorbs ordinary chargebacks.
  • OnlyFans gives stronger formal recourse after an account decision.

What it doesn’t fix

  • Neither gives meaningful subscriber portability.
  • Recurring subscribers don’t automatically move.
  • Fans’ payment details stay with each platform.
  • An unwithdrawn balance stays exposed to the rules of whichever platform holds it.

On OnlyFans, expect

Payment attrition: chargebacks, fraud refunds and occasional negative balances. If your account is challenged, lean on the written process and act within 30 days.

On Fansly, expect

Routine payments to hold. Treat the payout request and any co-performer documentation gap as the moments of exposure, and don’t let the balance build.

Multi-platform protects revenue infrastructure. It doesn’t make your customers portable.

Pending · not in force OnlyFans has published, at an unlinked page, a revised Terms text dated October 2026. As written it would remove seriously or repeatedly from the no-notice clause, add grounds for reputational harm and for not promptly providing requested information, add new powers to hold or redirect earnings, and add currency-conversion fees to payouts that need conversion. Creators report an email giving 1 November 2026 as the start; OnlyFans’ own statement of the date was not seen. The text could change before it takes effect. None of it is reflected in any verdict on this page.

How CHI built this comparison

This page is based on separate, completed investigations of OnlyFans and Fansly, including platform terms and policies, operational documentation, interface evidence, historical changes, creator case evidence and falsification passes, each followed by a verification and final-adjudication pass. Contractual powers were kept separate from actual practice. Case counts are cases identified, not incidence rates. Where evidence does not establish an answer, the comparison says so.

Help-centre and Terms wording was checked against the live pages on 5 October 2026. Statements by Fansly staff on public forums are informal, not published policy. Creator cases are not verified against either company’s records, and individual creators are not named. Nothing here is a finding of legal liability, and no score or overall winner is assigned.

Each platform has its own CHI assessment: OnlyFans and Fansly. How CHI works: Methodology.
