A car built to outlive its contract.

Bentley makes cars intended to last for decades. It does not tell the buyer how long the digital part will last—or what keeping it alive will cost after year three.

Bentley largely delivers the ownership relationship it sells. Fifteen research streams and three adversarial passes found no hardware paywall, coercive scarcity, resale retaliation, data-monetisation case or warranty lock-in. The weakness begins where a durable physical car meets a finite connected-services licence, an unpublished renewal price, an unavailable pre-purchase contract and no stated software-support horizon.

Entity boundary

This assessment covers Bentley Motors Limited, the Crewe manufacturer within Audi’s Brand Group Progressive and ultimately Volkswagen AG. Dealer order terms, Volkswagen security architecture, Porsche Financial Services and third-party insurance are attributed separately rather than collapsed into Bentley.

The divergence

The metal has a heritage programme. The software has no published horizon.

Bentley supports Crewe-built cars back to 1955 through an approximately 67,000-part catalogue. Its primary connected-service licences last three years. Renewal pricing, governing terms and a long-term digital-support commitment are not public.

The physical car is built for decades. The digital relationship is documented for three years at a time.

The result

What fifteen research streams could not find.

The customer-hostility thesis is weakly supported. That does not mean the research was weak. It means the investigation stopped when the evidence stopped.

01 · SUPPORTED

Three-year connected-services licence

Remote lock and status, hybrid pre-conditioning, Remote Park Assist, online data and the Roadside Assistance Call data allowance can depend on renewal after year three. Bentley publishes no renewal price.

02 · SUPPORTED

Systematic non-publication

Connected-service terms, renewal prices, complete warranty booklets, extended-cover prices, CPO terms and manufacturer order terms are not assembled for public pre-purchase review.

03 · SUPPORTED / NARROW

Recall front-end latency

Two fuel-system chronologies ran 21 and 29 months from first field symptom to recall decision. The eventual remedies were broad, physical and reimbursable.

04 · WATCHLISTED

No digital-support horizon

Bentley credibly supports the physical car for decades while publishing no comparable minimum life, retrofit duty or continuity promise for servers, licences and module activation.

DOMINANT RECORD · EVIDENCE AGAINST HOSTILITY

The expected luxury-auto case collapsed.

No hardware feature paywall. No anti-flip clause. No resale retaliation. No forced unrelated purchase. No manufactured core-range scarcity. No demonstrated driver-data monetisation. No Bentley-specific warranty lock-in.

The leading mechanism

The car is permanent. The licence is not.

What can expire

Primary My Bentley service licences are included for three years; Private eCall continues for ten. Depending on model and market, the three-year layer includes remote services, connected navigation and data-fed infotainment.

Renewal is routed through a retailer. No public Bentley renewal price or complete pre-purchase terms were obtained.

What remains

The car does not become a brick. Core driving, cabin, climate and assistance hardware remain available. CarPlay and Android Auto provide durable substitutes for much of the online information layer.

No owner was shown losing material functionality. Severity is low and latent.

The supported architecture is: physically embodied function → finite entitlement → unpublished price and contract → retailer-mediated renewal. Realised harm remains empty.

The larger pattern

The strongest Bentley-controlled problem is publication.

The missing renewal price is not an isolated omission.

Material the buyer cannot assemble

Bentley does not place complete connected-service terms, renewal prices, regional warranty booklets, extended-cover prices, complete CPO terms and manufacturer-standard order terms into one public pre-commitment record. Since the 2024 results it has also stopped publishing unit deliveries, so the volume strategy it describes as “value over volume” can no longer be checked from outside. Reported, March 2025 Some material sits in support pages. Other material is retailer-quoted or appears only after account registration.

What the finding does not prove

No unavailable term was shown containing an abusive forfeiture or disproportionate fee. CHI scores the inability to evaluate the relationship, not an imagined hidden abuse. Bentley could cure the problem without redesigning a vehicle or changing its economics: publish the documents and prices.

Process and permanence

Two slow recall starts. One unstated digital future.

Recall timing

Two US fuel-system chronologies ran 21 and 29 months from first reported fuel odour to recall decision; one spent approximately 16 months before Product Safety Committee escalation. Those intervals matter. They are not evidence of a cover-up.

The counter-record is substantial: no fires or injuries in the audited file, an approximately one per cent defect rate, widened populations, physical remedies and reimbursement. The front end was slow. The back end was not evasive.

Physical life, digital uncertainty

Bentley’s heritage programme gives its permanence claim unusual credibility. The company lists approximately 67,000 part numbers for Crewe-built cars from 1955 through 2009 and kept the limited-run and final-W12 statements checked here.

The digital layer has no comparable published support horizon. No owner was shown losing material functionality. The mismatch is documented; the injury is not.

What fell

Tested. Narrowed. Rejected.

Scarcity leverage

No unrelated-purchase or financing condition established.

Retaliatory access

No anti-flip clause, blacklist or enforcement instance found.

Hardware paywalls

No physical vehicle capability rented back to the owner.

Data monetisation

No insurer or data-broker sale of driving behaviour established.

Warranty lock-in

No Bentley-specific artificial repair dependence survived.

Coercive order terms

The strongest clauses were dealer templates used across marques.

Customer value

Bentley largely delivers the relationship it sells.

No hardware paywalls

Connected services expire; physical vehicle functions do not.

Long-tail physical support

Approximately 67,000 heritage part numbers cover Crewe-built vehicles from 1955–2009.

Price protection under pressure

Bentley held pre-tariff pricing on every customer order placed through the end of June 2025 when the 25% US import tariff arrived — stated on the record by its chief communications officer and its chief executive, and reported independently. The clearest documented committed-order protection in the four-brand luxury-auto record.

Broad remedies

The two slow-start recall cases ended in physical corrections and a reimbursement plan.

What the score means

Value and hostility remain separate findings.

Bentley’s CHI 19 is one of the lowest hostility scores in the index. Its CVI 82 does not arise from prestige alone: it reflects a differentiated physical product, extensive bespoke capability, strong performance, unlimited-mileage warranty coverage, extended protection available to ten years, long-tail parts support and the absence of rented-back hardware.

The resulting CFS +63 is strongly customer-favorable and robust to reasonable scoring changes. If the renewal quote proves trivial, CHI likely falls one or two points. If it proves substantial, variable or unavailable, CHI could rise two to four. Neither outcome changes the broad conclusion without evidence of realised loss or coercive enforcement.

Auto calibration

Similar value. Radically different ownership architecture.

LamborghiniCHI 18 · CVI reserved

Lowest observed hostility; thinner adjudicated value record.

BentleyCHI 19 · CVI 82 · CFS +63

Low hostility; digital risk is narrow and latent.

Rolls-RoyceCHI 23 · CVI 85 · CFS +62

More aftercare; more documented control rhetoric.

TeslaCHI 68 · CVI 81 · CFS +13

Comparable value; exercised software-mediated control.

Final finding

Bentley is a negative control for CHI. The framework searched deeply enough to find obscure dealer terms, app architecture, module-security systems, privacy language, finance entities and recall chronologies. It still rejected the most obvious accusations.

What remains is documentation Bentley has not published, a connected licence whose renewal economics remain unknown, and two slow safety-escalation timelines followed by real remedies. That is not nothing. It is also not a hostile ownership model.

The single piece of evidence most capable of moving the assessment is also the cheapest to obtain: a real connected-services renewal quote. A trivial, uniform price would reduce the leading mechanism mostly to transparency. A substantial, variable or unavailable renewal would convert latent dependency into demonstrated extraction or restriction.

Bentley sells permanence and mostly honours it.
The unresolved question is whether the software inside that promise will receive the same treatment as the car.

Executive finding

Weakly supported—after an investigation designed to prove more.

Four Bentley-relevant mechanisms survive, none severe. Most expected luxury-auto hostility was falsified.

The customer-hostility residue

A three-year connected licence with no public renewal price; material ownership documents unavailable before commitment; two slow recall front ends; and no published support horizon for the digital layer.

The dominant counter-record

No feature paywalls, scarcity coercion, retaliatory resale policy, data-broker case, warranty lock-in or Bentley-controlled order escalation. Physical support is unusually durable.

Research package: twelve substantive streams, three adversarial passes, approximately 1,000 source citations. Research frozen 1 September 2026.

Investigative standard

The assignment was not to find reasons to dislike Bentley.

Every plausible mechanism had to survive attribution, falsification and customer-consequence tests.

The causal requirement

The investigation looked for a complete chain: representation → customer commitment → company discretion or control → customer consequence → remedy. A marketing sentence, restrictive clause or complaint could not carry the assessment unless the remaining links were established or clearly marked unresolved.

Product defects were not scored merely because they existed. Luxury pricing, scarcity, selectivity, loyalty preference, allocation and anti-flipping were not presumed hostile.

The evidence hierarchy

Bentley documents, customer terms, regulator filings and official safety records controlled. Volkswagen Group materials were used only where directly applicable. Dealer documents were attributed to dealers. Owner reports and app reviews were leads or corroboration, never a basis for transforming isolated conduct into Bentley policy.

Missing evidence received the lower defensible score. Positive evidence was tested rather than treated as brand copy.

Bentley is therefore a methodological result as much as a company result: an adversarial CHI investigation can conclude that the expected hostility largely is not there.

Finding 1

A three-year licence over the connected layer.

The strongest adverse finding is architectural, not yet a documented injury.

01 · REPRESENTATION

Connected luxury Bentley

Remote control, online navigation, data-fed infotainment and app functions are sold as part of the ownership experience.

02 · COMMITMENT

The customer buys the car

Primary licences are included for three years; Private eCall for ten.

03 · CONTROL

Renewal through a retailer Dealer

No public price, bundle structure or stable public copy of the governing terms was obtained.

04 · CONSEQUENCE

The connected layer can stop

Remote functions and online data can lapse. The drivetrain, cabin and core physical vehicle remain usable.

05 · REMEDY

Renew or substitute

Renewal exists in principle. CarPlay, Android Auto and offline functions mitigate much of the loss.

STATUS

Supported · low / latent

Every architectural link is documented. Price, refusal and realised owner harm are not.

The service boundary

The three-year layer can include remote lock and vehicle status, security alerts, hybrid pre-conditioning and charge controls, Remote Park Assist on newer vehicles, traffic, online search, weather, internet radio, map content and the data allowance supporting the Roadside Assistance Call function. The ten-year Private eCall term is distinct and must not be collapsed into the shorter licence.

Nothing in the adjudicated record connects the right to drive, ordinary climate control, engine or chassis modes, seating, basic cabin functions or driver-assistance hardware to an online entitlement. Some older Bentleys also use a customer SIM or tethered phone. The car becomes less connected, not unusable.

Why the price matters

Bentley publishes the included term but no company price, range or self-service renewal schedule. Every checked route led to a retailer. The customer therefore cannot calculate the lifetime economics of maintaining the digital layer before buying the car, and the record cannot determine whether pricing or availability is consistent across retailers and markets.

There is no evidence the price is high. A finite term also has a legitimate basis: Bentley continues paying carriers and content providers after the vehicle leaves the factory. The hostility lies in the combination of embodied function, finite entitlement, unavailable price, unavailable contract and mediated renewal—not in charging for a continuing service.

Finding 2

The larger pattern is what Bentley does not publish.

The omission repeats across the ownership relationship.

Unavailable publicly

  • Connected-services termsAccepted in-app rather than available at a stable pre-purchase URL.
  • Renewal pricesRetailer-quoted in every checked market.
  • Complete warranty bookletsPublic summaries exist; the full regional contract was not assembled.

Fragmented / mediated

  • Extended-cover pricesRetailer quoted.
  • Certified by Bentley termsBentley publishes one sentence — a 12-month warranty, with the option to extend. Third-party summaries disagree with each other on inspection points, transferability and eligibility, and none of it is settled by a Bentley document.
  • Order and cancellation termsDealer contracts, not a published Bentley standard.

Evidence limiting severity

  • No abusive hidden term establishedOpacity is not proof of substance.
  • Detailed support siteBentley demonstrates that it can disclose clearly.
  • Low-cost remedyPublish the documents and prices.

Capability without consistency

Bentley’s support site is unusually detailed about activation, licence periods, Privacy Mode, data connections and troubleshooting. Its UK service-plan page publishes fixed prices. The company has therefore demonstrated both the ability to disclose clearly and the choice not to apply that standard across the ownership relationship.

This is the cleanest Bentley-controlled finding because responsibility cannot be displaced onto a dealer or Volkswagen platform decision. Bentley can publish its own service contract, warranty documents and indicative or fixed renewal economics. No factory, component or commercial model has to change.

Finding 3

Two slow starts, followed by real remedies.

Front-end latency

Bentley’s US Part 573 chronologies show 21 and 29 months from first fuel-odour field symptom to recall decision. One matter spent approximately 16 months before reaching the Product Safety Committee.

Those elapsed times support a quality-system criticism. They do not establish concealment.

Back-end remedy

The audited record identified no fires or injuries; the reported defect rate was approximately one per cent. Bentley widened populations, supplied physical remedies and filed a reimbursement plan.

The finding concerns escalation speed, not refusal to correct.

Finding 4

A long-lived object with no stated software life.

Physical horizon

Documented
  • Approximately 67,000 heritage part numbersCrewe-built Bentley and Rolls-Royce vehicles from 1955 through 2009.
  • Limited-run promises keptBacalar, Batur, continuation cars and final W12 statements held on the available record.
  • Extended protection to ten yearsA real if not segment-leading aftercare structure.

Digital horizon

Unpublished
  • Mobile networksBentley warns that operators retire them and service may be affected.
  • Servers and app supportNo minimum period or retrofit obligation published.
  • Module activationVolkswagen Group controls material coding/security infrastructure.

No Bentley owner was shown losing a material function. This is an exposure, not an event. The one dated, regulator-filed evidence of the new digital layer misbehaving is a pair of technical service bulletins filed in January 2026 for 2025-model-year and later cars, covering App Studio and infotainment faults; one remedy resets the system and erases all personal data. Regulator filing

Resale and second owners

The car transfers more cleanly than the documentation.

No anti-resale control survived. The connected-service handoff remains poorly explained.

Physical and commercial transfer

No Bentley anti-flip clause, manufacturer right of first refusal or future-allocation punishment was found. Connected licence periods appear tied to the vehicle rather than the original buyer, and the current European extended-warranty product is transferable under documented conditions.

Account and data handoff

Bentley tells sellers to delete the vehicle from My Bentley and reset the infotainment system. It does not clearly explain how a second owner removes a prior primary user, inherits the remaining licence term or forces account separation when the seller did not complete those steps.

That is a safety and privacy documentation gap, not evidence that Bentley withholds transfer.

Data and privacy

Connected, but not shown to be extractive.

Bentley processes connected-car data and permits limited US marketing sharing. The stronger monetisation thesis did not survive.

Disclosed sharing

The US statement permits contact information and VIN sharing for third-party marketing, with a California opt-out.

Customer control

Privacy Mode restricts transmission except emergency and defined safety/security functions.

Not established

No sale of precise location or driving behaviour to insurers or data brokers; no Bentley-specific enforcement case.

The US statement permits contact information and VIN sharing with third parties for their own marketing, including SiriusXM, retailers and selected companies, and supplies an opt-out. It separately says precise geolocation and driving behaviour are not used for marketing without affirmative consent. Those distinctions are binding: disclosed marketing sharing supports a non-zero score, but it cannot be inflated into a driver-surveillance business model.

Bentley’s public privacy materials are dated and thin on processors and vehicle-data retention. Bentley was nevertheless absent from the major 2023–2025 connected-car data enforcement episodes examined. The correct result is low information/privacy hostility with documentation caveats.

Orders, deposits and pricing

The dealer is not the manufacturer.

Bespoke ordering can create asymmetric commitment. The strongest contract found did not establish a Bentley corporate practice.

Dealer layer

  • Sytner / JCT600 termsPrice, deposit and cancellation clauses can favour the seller.
  • Cross-marque templateThe same drafting governed Bentley, Ferrari and Rolls-Royce.

Not attributable

  • Bentley not the contracting partyNo evidence showed Bentley directing the terms.
  • No exercise shownNo Bentley-wide post-order price escalation survived review.

Contrary conduct

  • 2025 tariffBentley protected existing customer orders from the 25 per cent US import shock and extended pre-tariff pricing to any order placed through the end of June 2025: “you walk into a Bentley retailer, you order a Bentley, even if you configure a Bentley, it will be at the pre-tariff price” (chief communications officer); the chief executive said Bentley would “price-protect all cars purchased through the end of June.” The protection was explicitly time-limited, and both the chief financial officer and the chief executive said the cost would eventually reach consumers; what happened to model-year 2026 pricing after July 2025 is not established.

The distinction is not a technical escape hatch. Dealer clauses can produce real harm, especially where a bespoke specification makes cancellation a poor substitute for delivery. But CHI requires evidence that Bentley mandated, incentivised, benefited from or exercised the disputed power. None was obtained. In the one documented cost shock that reached the order bank, Bentley used discretion in the customer’s favour.

Scarcity and access

Exclusivity without demonstrated leverage.

Scarcity increases desire. CHI requires evidence that the company converts it into coercion, restriction or retaliation.

What Bentley does

Small Mulliner programmes are allocated by selection. Bentley’s own release calls them “selected clients” (7 May 2024) and publishes no criteria; the auction catalogue for a Bacalar records that every example was allocated before the car was unveiled to the public. Bacalar was limited to 12, Batur to 18 coupes, Batur Convertible to 16, and the Blower and Speed Six continuation series to 12 each. Company release; auction catalogue

What the selection is not, on the available record, is a loyalty ladder: the then-chief executive described the coachbuilt buyer base as largely “customers who never bought Bentleys before.” The account is undated and carried by one outlet. Reported Prior Bentley ownership was not established as a requirement; being known to Mulliner before the reveal was.

What the record did not show

No holding-period clause, right of first refusal, blacklist, resale punishment, unrelated-purchase requirement or financing condition. A Bacalar — one owner, 1,131 km — sold at auction in Abu Dhabi for $876,875 against a reported list of roughly £1.5m, and at least two Baturs were publicly offered above list in 2025 with no completed sale documented. Neither drew any documented Bentley response. Earlier drafts described a Batur as having been “resold”; the record shows asking prices, not sales. Auction result Asking prices only

Core-range discounting also cuts against a claim of manufactured series-car scarcity.

Allocation criteria at the smallest Mulliner tier remain unpublished, which is why Behavioral Manipulation is not scored at zero. But opacity alone does not establish that customers were pressured into economically unrelated conduct. Bentley’s limited-run numbers were specific, numerically small and honoured on the available record; factory-retained prototypes were disclosed where applicable.

Ferrari supplied the falsification control. Written holding periods, rights of first refusal and ownership-history access questions show what a stronger control architecture looks like. Bentley did not reproduce it. Luxury exclusivity can be socially exclusionary without becoming customer-hostile under CHI.

Promise record

Beyond100 moved. The customer-harm chain did not close.

2020–2022

First BEV in 2025; all-electric by 2030

Bentley announced a rapid transition through Beyond100 and later reaffirmed investment and product milestones.

7 NOV 2024

First BEV moves to 2026; all-electric target to 2035

Beyond100+ described the change as adaptation to market, economic and legislative conditions.

5 NOV 2025

Deliveries move to 2027; hybrids continue at least to 2035

Bentley cited customer demand and a changing market; further combustion models remained possible.

The targets changed. The revisions were dated and explained. No deposit, contractual promise, withdrawn vehicle capability or reliance-based customer loss was found. The movement may be important to strategy and investors; it does not carry meaningful CHI weight on this customer record.

Value and aftercare

Good, durable and not quite segment-leading.

Core product

Hand-finishing, deep bespoke capability, performance and material quality produce genuine differentiation rather than prestige alone.

Warranty

Three years, unlimited mileage; genuine parts carry two years; roadside assistance runs during warranty coverage.

Extended protection

Available to ten years. In the UK it is FCA-regulated Mechanical Breakdown Insurance, not a factory warranty.

Repair and heritage

erWin access and a 67,000-part heritage catalogue provide significant counter-evidence to a repair-lock-in thesis.

Rolls-Royce remains stronger on included warranty, maintenance and wear items; Ferrari remains stronger on scheduled-maintenance duration. Those differences reduce CVI without materially increasing CHI.

What the warranty record actually says

The three-year unlimited-mileage warranty begins at first delivery. Genuine parts carry two years of cover, subject to regional variation, and roadside assistance follows warranty coverage. The public summary is straightforward; the absence of full regional warranty booklets remains a disclosure deduction.

One correction to the blanket statement that Bentley includes no maintenance: a 2020 UK service-plan document marked plans on the new Bentayga and selected Continental and Flying Spur models as “inclusive with base price.” Bentley publishes no current included-maintenance term in any market, and whether that 2020 practice continues is unresolved. Separately, the UK publishes fixed, inflation-protected service-plan prices for cars aged three years and over — the only published aftersales price located at any of the four luxury-auto marques in this corpus. UK service-plan pages

The UK product correction

Bentley Extended Warranty is FCA-regulated Mechanical Breakdown Insurance underwritten by Motors Insurance Company Limited and administered by Car Care Plan Limited. It sits inside the insurance-complaints regime, including Financial Ombudsman recourse. It must not be described as an unregulated factory warranty. On re-check the dedicated UK extended-warranty page now redirects to service plans — a small disclosure regression, recorded rather than scored. Re-checked 4 Sep 2026

Repair dependence

Specialised and expensive is not the same as artificially locked.

Bentley operates inside Volkswagen Group diagnostic and cybersecurity architecture. The investigation did not establish a Bentley-created repair-exclusion strategy.

The real constraints

SFD, FAZIT/GeKo and ODIS govern protected functions, coding and module activation. erWin access is materially more expensive than Volkswagen-brand access on the same platform. Warranty repair and specialised structural or high-voltage work naturally concentrate in the authorised network.

The limiting evidence

The architecture applies across Volkswagen Group brands, is partly driven by cybersecurity and anti-tamper regulation, and provides an independent-repair information channel. No blanket dealer-servicing warranty condition, parts VIN lock, suit against an independent repairer or Bentley campaign against owner modification survived.

The 67,000-part heritage catalogue is especially strong evidence against a broad thesis that Bentley abandons owners when the new-car relationship ends.

Specialised vehicles create legitimate concentration. Structural aluminium repair, high-voltage battery work, security coding and warranty authorisation require tooling and expertise that ordinary garages may not possess. The analytical question is whether Bentley adds artificial constraints beyond those needs. On the reachable record, it does not.

CFS +63. A trivial renewal price lowers CHI approximately 1–2 points. Maximum defensible weighting of the adverse residue raises it only to approximately 22–23. The conclusion does not move.

Trust & Transparency carries the largest burden because the publication problem repeats across connected services, warranty, extended cover, CPO and order architecture, while recall timing supplies a distinct process harm. The anti-double-counting rule prevents the missing connected-services price from being charged at full weight under Revenue Extraction, Customer Restriction and Trust simultaneously.

CVI is not a luxury-price score. Core value is supported by differentiated craft, performance and customisation; features by meaningful additions rather than trim proliferation; technology by vehicle capability tempered by a group-derived digital stack; trust and reliability by warranty, remedies and heritage support tempered by the lack of robust owner-outcome data; innovation by coachbuilding, hybrid performance and preservation infrastructure.

Confidence and limits

What the record cannot settle.

CHI confidence: B+

Strong primary support for service architecture, publication gaps and recall dates. Dealer-floor conduct, private dispute outcomes, renewal quotes and older-vehicle failures are weakly observable.

CVI confidence: B+

Craft, capability, warranty and heritage support are well documented. No robust Bentley brand-level reliability, satisfaction or owner-outcome dataset was located.

Highest-value unresolved item

One real connected-services renewal quote.

The useful evidence is the model year, functions included, term, full price, pricing authority, second-owner eligibility and what stops if the owner declines. No second broad investigation is required.

Comparative position

Rolls-RoyceCHI 23 · CVI 85 · CFS +62

TeslaCHI 68 · CVI 81 · CFS +13

Similar value through a radically different bargain: exercised software-mediated change rather than latent digital dependency.

Ferrari remains the scarcity-control reference. Its record contains written holding-period/right-of-first-refusal evidence and ownership-history access questions. Bentley does not reproduce that architecture. This is why scarcity itself never supplies the score.

The Tesla comparison is the most revealing. Tesla and Bentley deliver almost identical CVI scores through opposite relationships. Tesla can add material capability after sale and can alter the software-mediated bargain; Bentley’s digital layer is narrower and poorly documented, while the physical bargain remains stable. Tesla’s car can improve after purchase while the deal degrades after signing. Bentley’s car and deal largely hold; uncertainty accumulates around the digital afterlife.

Final assessment

CHI19/100Low hostility
CVI82/100Exceptional
CFS+63Strongly customer-favorable

Bentley does not appear to use scarcity as coercion. It does not appear to rent back the physical capabilities of its cars. It was not shown monetising driver behaviour, punishing resale or trapping owners inside its repair network.

Its strongest negative record consists of documentation it has not published, a connected licence whose renewal economics remain unknown, and two slow safety-escalation timelines followed by real remedies. The hostility thesis is weakly supported because that is what the evidence supports.

Low hostility means low observed hostility, not universal owner satisfaction. Dealer-floor conduct, renewal quotations, private settlements and older-vehicle digital failures remain difficult to see. The page preserves those gaps instead of converting absence into exoneration.

The car is built to outlive its owner.
The contract is written for year three.
